A Synopsis of Studies of the Monotonic and Cyclic Behavior of Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Members, Connections, and Frames

چکیده
A significant amount of research has been conducted worldwide on the behavior of concrete filled steel tubes (CFTs) in the past five decades. This report provides a summary of the behavior and experimental work of concrete filled steel tube members, connections, and frames that are reported in detail in the literature. These published studies have been summarized with an emphasis on experimental setup and properties, analytical methods presented, and key results from the work. A detailed summary of the behavior of CFTs under various loading conditions is presented in the first chapter. In the second chapter, summaries of selected experimental and analytical work are presented. The third chapter contains tables documenting experimental data from the summarized work. The fourth chapter presents a categorization of tests on CFT beam-columns, sorting the experimental work by material and geometric properties. The tables in chapters three and four provide a quick reference to a wide range of published experiments. Several topics (e.g. box columns, fire studies) have been excluded from the main report for brevity, as have publications that summarize CFT research more briefly, but references to these studies have been placed in a supplemental bibliography. This report constitutes Version 4.0 of this synopsis, with prior versions being issued in 1993, 1995, and 2001 as follows: Gourley, B. C., Tort, C., Hajjar, J. F., and Schiller, P. H. (2001). “A Synopsis of Studies of the Monotonic and Cyclic Behavior of Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Beam-Columns,” Structural Engineering Report No. ST-01-4, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Version 3.0, December, 262 pp. Gourley, B. Cyclic Loading Tests for Cold-Formed Steel Wall Frames with Lightweight Concrete
Lightweight steel framing is a method in housing and construction that have been widely used in lightweight steel construction. In this method, the structure is built by cold formed steel elements. They are cost-effective, light, and easy to assemble. However, the performance of lateral load resisting systems in cold-formed steel structures specially the behavior of cold-formed steel shear wall...
متن کاملAnalytical and Experimental Investigation of I Beam-to-CFT Column Connections under Monotonic Loading (RESEARCH NOTE)
In this study, the behavior characteristics of I beam-to-concrete filled tube (CFT) column connection is studied through experiment and finite element models under the monotonic loading. To validate the finite element modeling, at first, an experimental model is made and experimented. After validation of the finite element modeling, different models were created in the software. The studied par...

Applied studies addressing semi-rigid connections have been limited. Scant information exists in regulations except little brief information. Therefore, this research analyzes the behavior of three-dimensional steel frames and semi-rigid connections based on beam-column method and non-linear dynamic analysis. Stability functions and geometric stiffness matrix were used to study the non-linear g...

The use of composite materials is an effective technique to enhance the capacity of reinforced concrete columns subjected to the seismic loading due to their high tensile strength. In this paper, numerical models are developed in order to predict the experimental behavior of square reinforced concrete columns strengthened by glass fiber reinforced polymer and steel bars and unstrengthened colum...
